Self admittedly this post has been long overdue.  Last November I was fortunate enough to travel to Washington D.C.  This was the beginning of my voyage to shrink my camera system.  It was the first real time I attempted to 'shoot' a trip with a small, high resolution mirrorless camera.  I have since moved on from the Sony NEX-7 but it's not to say that the camera isn't capable.  The kit I had consisted of a Sony 16mm F2.8, Voigtlander Nokton 35mm F1.4, and Sony 50mm F1.8 O.S.S.  That basically gave me a 24mm, 50mm and 75mm equivalent for the trip.  I'll keep the verbiage short as I don't want to necessarily make this a long gear review. The Sony NEX-7 is a great camera that lacks soul.  Technically you can't go wrong with its fantastic image quality, but it lacks a look, it lacks character and it's just missing something in general.  You can't go wrong with it, all of the photos shot below were taken with the NEX and it will yield fantastic results when used properly.  If you're into photography and you want a bridge to a more advanced, capable camera system you can't go wrong.  There are plenty of reviews out there, this is just simply to illustrate how effective this little guy can be!

As far as D.C. is concerned, get out and see it if you haven't already.  The city has a ton of character, is extremely reasonable price wise (as the museums are mostly free) and has a ton of history (obviously).  We had a great time and got to see some really moving pieces of history.  You MUST see the National Holocaust Museum.  It helps you come back to earth and appreciate the freedoms that we have as a society and I would hope that anyone who visits this exhibit grows a little bit as a person.  It's very important for people in my mind, to appreciate the sacrifice and pain of people before us.  Whether it be civil rights, the circumstances around the Holocaust, Apartheid, Slavery:  understanding their struggle should help shape you into a more appreciative person of the conveniences that we have in our society.  Too often people get bogged down by issues that seem trivial when you think about our not to recent history.  All of these horrible things happened within the last 300 years.  Seriously, think about that for a minute the next time you want to you want to freak out about the things we freak out about.....

Ok, I'm going to get off of my soap box.  Enjoy the images below, go see D.C. and if you're into photography the NEX-7 is a great camera, it's just not the camera for me....Now the Sony RX-1.....I guess I'll have to get my hands on one and let you know what I think...
